Utah Communication Experts Report from the Blogosphere

Are Corporate Blogs De Rigueur, or Fading Fast? Utah Communications Experts Report from the Blogosphere

SALT LAKE CITY – November 20, 2006 – Corporate blogs haven’t reached the same status as corporate websites. Industry hype about blogs suggest this unconventional method of disseminating information will become main stream, which has many companies wondering if it’s time to wade in. Susan Richards of Altiris and Noelle Bates of Logoworks will present lessons learned and strategy recommendations on how to leverage blogging as a corporate communications tool at the Utah Technology Council (UTC) PR breakfast on December 7.

Touted in the industry for having a progressive PR department – Altiris’ director of corporate communications, Susan Richards, is a 23-year marketing and communications veteran. She has been instrumental in helping the company embrace blogging as a way to enhance the dialogue with its customers via its online community, Altiris Juice http://juice.altiris.com/

Logoworks’ vice president of corporate communications, Noelle Bates, has helped the company raise its profile as the go-to place for small businesses seeking graphic design. She will discuss the positive and negative experiences the company has had dealing with blogs, what she has learned from those experiences, and how Logoworks utilizes its blog to cull advice from marketing experts into a knowledge sharing forum for small businesses. http://newsletter.logoworks.com/

The breakfast event will be held in Salt Lake City on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the University of Phoenix, 5373 Greet Street, Room 105, with a cost of $10 for members and $20 for non UTC members. Cheryl Snapp Conner, a trustee of UTC, will moderate the discussion sharing her client experiences and insight as a partner of the Snapp Norris Group, one of Utah’s most successful PR firms.
