UTC Announces Ballmer Keynote Address and Hall of Fame Inductees

Ballmer Keynote to Focus on Innovation and the Technology Industry’s Ability to Drive Positive Economic and Social Impact

SALT LAKE CITY ― Oct. 16, 2006 ― The Utah Technology Council today announced that Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft and featured keynote speaker at this year’s Hall of Fame gala event, will speak on “Innovation and Impact” and present his ideas on how the technology industry can drive positive economic and social impact around the world. Drawing on his insights from his 30+ years in the technology industry, he will discuss the importance of partnerships in the public-private sector and cover key trends that will affect businesses, governments, education, and individuals during the coming decade.

During the Hall of Fame event, Dr. Jim Kajiya, an acclaimed graphics and hardware designer as well as Dr.Dinesh Patel, a biotechnologist and pharmaceuticals expert, will be inducted into the Utah Technology Council’s “Hall of Fame.” Both inductees have greatly enhanced the technology industry with their innovations, and the Utah Technology Council is honored to have them as the two newest members of the industry’s “Hall of Fame.”

The keynote address and Hall of Fame inductee dinner will take place at a black-tie event on October 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Little America Hotel at 500 South Main in Salt Lake City. The eighth annual event is expected to be the largest gathering ever of leaders from Utah’s technology industry as well as dignitaries. While the main ball room has already been sold out, seats for the event have been extended to an annex adjacent to the ballroom, accommodating a limited number of additional participants. For more information on seating availability, contact Mark Lehnhof at mark@utahtech.org.
