UITA Announces Four New Trustees


SALT LAKE CITY, December 27, 2005 – The Utah Information Technology Association (UITA) announced four new members of its Board of Trustees at the UITA Trustee Meeting on November 18, 2005.

New trustee appointments include the following: Jacqie Soechtig, CEO, First Choice Solutions, Michael Wilcox, Utah Public Sector Account and Executive of Hewlett-Packard, Cynthia Bioteau, president of Salt Lake Community College, and Sam Gardiner, partner in the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney.

“The outstanding experience these leaders bring to the Board will assist in driving the industry’s agenda forward – making Utah a more rewarding place for technology companies to do business,” says Richard R. Nelson, president of UITA. “They each have a unique perspective, which I believe will help make 2006 a great year for the technology industry in Utah.”

 
Jacqueline E. Soechtig
 
 
Jacqueline E. Soechtig is the CEO of First Choice Solutions. Before joining First Choice, Soechtig was the CEO and chairman of the board for FutureSmart, a Salt Lake City, Utah based company providing structured wiring solutions for new home construction. Soechtig has also served as president and CEO of Lasergate Systems, Inc., and Precision Systems, Inc (PSi). For eight years prior to joining PSi, Soechtig served as vice president for both MCI and Sprint.
 
Michael W. Wilcox
 
 
Michael W. Wilcox began working for Hewlett Packard as a Design Engineer in 1986 in research and development. He later became an HP systems engineer, and also served in sales with Apple Computer. In 1997, Wilcox joined Compaq Computer to manage government and educational sales, and returned to Hewlett Packard when HP purchased Compaq in 2002.
 
Cynthia A. Bioteau
 
 
With more than 30 years’ experience as an educator and administrator, Cynthia A. Bioteau is the President of Salt Lake Community College, an urban multi-campus college of 60,000 students. Bioteau earned a doctorate in philosophy at Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. She is also the recipient of various prestigious awards, such as the 2002 Boston Public Schools Higher Education Partnership Service Award and the 2001 Outstanding Developmental Program in New England Award.
 
Samuel P. Gardiner
 
 
Samuel P. Gardiner is a partner in the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney. Gardiner’s practice is focused on corporate finance, securities, mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive experience in venture capital, private equity and debt financing transactions, representing both emerging companies and investors, as well as representing underwriters and companies in public equity offerings. Gardiner has done substantial work representing public companies on corporate governance matters and compliance filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
